Restaurants/bars
Villa Batista is on Bed& Breakfast basis. Lunch and dinner is payable direct with the hotel.
Chez Batista as speciality restaurant has a very interesting history. In 1984 Mr. Jean-Baptiste Horter launched his dream for a beach restaurant by providing private BBQ grills from his catch of the day, for tourists on the beach. In no time, visitors were sitting under a sunshade enjoying his fish and coconut drinks, with salads and garlic bread being added to the menu. It was from the origins of this humble grill that a small restaurant was born. The Italian tourists named the restaurant Batista and little by little, Batista became a popular eating-place on Mahé
The restaurant “Chez Batista” with its thatched roofing and sand covered flooring is therefore the most rustic and popular one on the island and it is directly on the beautiful beach of Takamaka in the south of Mahé.
Its natural atmosphere and local architecture makes it one of the most photographed locations. You literally sit with “your feet in the sand”. This attention to details has even been adapted to the hotel rest rooms.
The restaurant enjoys an excellent reputation with both locals and visitors. It is renowned world over for the best seafood and Creole specialties on the island, The restaurant is famous for its fresh grilled fish and lobsters and various other traditional delicacies.
It is indeed a popular lunch time venue especially on Sundays for its very delicious & affordable Creole buffet. The restaurant has greeted many visits from international and local celebrities and dignitaries.
No doubt, guests will want to go many a time.
Please note: The restaurant is regularly closed on Mondays.
The bar which is no doubt one of the nicest in the country is always open, serving ice cold beers, freshly prepared local tropical fruit juices and liquors, cocktails, fresh coconuts etc.
