The Islander Hotel
The Islander is a family-run small hotel, built on a property of more then 4,000 m² of flat land at Anse Kerlan Beach, on the north-west coast of Praslin, one of the world’s most beautiful tropical islands.
The Islander is approximately 5 minutes from the Airport and from the complex it’s a 20 minutes drive to Baie Ste Anne Jetty where you can take the ferries to La Digue or Mahé.
Guests staying here can walk in the footsteps of Oliver Reed and the crew of “Castaway” which was filmed on Anse Kerlan beach in 1986.
The Islander offers comfortable relaxation in a holiday home of your choice, in self-contain Creole style bungalows, ranging from Standard, Superior and Family accommodation. All stand proudly amongst a well-tended lush gardens, filled with a riot of flowering shrubs. The hotel is regarded as a haven of tranquillity.
The Islander Hotel has four types of accommodation namely
- Standard Rooms (number: 4)
- Superior Rooms (number: 2)
- Two Bedroom Apartments (number: 2)
- Two Bedroom Villa (number: 1)
All Rooms have air conditioning (at cost), ceiling fan, fridge , hair dryer, kitchen, lounge, safe , tea & coffee making facilities and a verandah
The Standard Apartments each have an en-suite bedroom and separate open-plan lounge with dining area and equipped kitchen, fronted by a terrace with deck chairs and coffee table. All 4 apartments have a ceiling fan in the bedroom and the lounge.
The Superior Apartments are at the front of the property, closer to the ocean, over-looking the restaurant and have the same amenities, a bigger bathroom with 2 wash-hand basins, shower cubicle for 2, and a bidet. All contain new furnitures, elegant décor, fully equipped kitchen with a mini oven. There are 2 superior apartments.
The Family Apartments each has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with tub, separate shower cubicle and bidet, a spacious open-plan lounge with dining area and equipped kitchen and veranda. The villa consists of 2 bedrooms with their own private shower room, bidet and wash hand basin, a well equipped kitchen, a sitting area with TV and large verandah facing the bungalows.
Villa Medea: New addition to The Islander Hotel is Villa Medea which is found opposite the bungalows with garden view. This villa measures 140sq.m and can accommodate up to 5 adults. It consists of 2 double bedrooms with own shower, kitchen with modern facilities, dinning room, spacious living room with TV and verandah.
The bedrooms are positioned one, on each side of the villa, which opens directly onto the verandah, with the living room, kitchen and dinning room in the middle of the building.
Each bedroom has it’s own safe, air-conditioning , ceiling fan and hair-dryer. The verandah is all along the front and the sides on the building with direct access to the living room and bedrooms.
A laundry is at the guest’s disposal. Internet connections (i-surf) is available at an additional fee on the whole property including the beach area.
Shopping for groceries are made easy by the close proximity of a super market and other general merchants in the area. Guests wanting to steep themselves in the local way of life can visit the various farms in the village for fresh produce. Souvenir boutiques are found by the main road.
The bus stop is just a 2 mins walk from the accommodation.
The beach is a few steps away, providing the ultimate enjoyment of sun, sea and sand practically on your doorstep, and capping most everyday with glorious sunsets. There you can find a newly built gazebo in Balinese style, beach beds, chairs and tables, shower, etc.,
A tortoise-pen is found close to the parking area and guests could feed them from the near-by grasses or leaves.
The 2 famous beaches, Anse Lazio (45mins) and Anse Georgette(25mins) – a wonderful ramble with stunning views along the way could be easily reached from The Islander. Permission for Anse Georgette beach should be obtained from “Lemuria Resorts” at least 2 days in advance.
Hotel is found close to an 18 hole golf course.
Guest staying here are spoiled for choices between self-catering, bed and breakfast or half-board accommodations with catered meals at the Capricorn Restaurant.
Capricorn Restaurant with outstanding stained glass, marble flooring and thatched roof. The restaurant is highly recommended for the variety of its Creole and seafood specialities at affordable prices. Open for Breakfast, lunch and dinner from Mondays to Sundays and public holidays. Breakfast and BBQ lunch could be organized on the beach depending on occupancy and weather forecasts.
Restaurant is opened for both hotel and outside guests. Candle light dinner on the beach could be organize at least 2 hours of pre-booking.
The bar serves a range of fresh tropical fruit juices, home-made sorbets, and cocktails, as well as the popular Seybrew beers and fizzy drinks.
Capricorn Restaurant is where you can find the Tropicana Ice, sorbets made only from local fruits created by the famous Mr. Deutschmann, ex Jessie’s Ice-Cream.
