Fregate Island
Or sometimes Frigate Island is a private island and is the easternmost (55 km (34 mi) east of Mahé) of the granitic Inner Islands of the Seychelles. It is only 2.19 square kilometres (0.85 sq mi) and is primarily known as a secluded, private luxury resort. From Mahé it’s approximately 20 minutes by plane.
The island is covered with takamaka, cashew and Indian almond trees and is home to the rare Seychelles Magpie Robin as well as several relocated Aldabra Giant Tortoises. It also has endemic species, including the flightless Frégate Island giant tenebrionid beetle and some species of millipedes.
Exclusivity in every respect is the maxim of Fregate Island and the preservation and protection of the island’s unique flora and fauna is one of its proudest achievements.
The highest point on the island is called Mount Signal, which reaches a peak of 125 metres (410 feet) in the central west area of the island. The Riviére Bambous flows from approximately 300 metres north-east of the mountain where it flows down past the Gros Bois Noire and Plaine Magnan areas of the northern inner island and then acutely northeast until it reaches the Indian Ocean north of the airstrip on the east coast.
Beaches on the north coast include from west to east the award winning Anse Victorin beach, Anse Maquereau and then Anse Bambous on the north-east corner of the island. On the western point of the island there is the Pointe Fouqué and then on the southwest coast the Grand Anse, Petit Grande Anse and the small beach Anse Felix. On the southeastern coast there are the small beaches of Anse Coup de Poing and Anse Parc. There is a still a plantation house on the island, located near the eastern coast of the island south of the airstrip.

The island remains private to Fregate guests only, making it an ideal refuge for discerning travellers to hide away in one of 16 spacious individual villas, from which to enjoy the island’s exquisite beaches and natural ecology.

Rooms
Fregate Island Private has three types of accommodation namely
- Private Pool Residence (number: 13: size approx 400-500 m²)
- Private Pool Twin/ Spa Residence (number: 2; size apprx 600-750 m²)
- Banyan Hill Estate (number 1: size approx 1100 m²)

Pool Twin / Spa Residence additionally have one extra bedroom, a bathroom with 1 indoor and 1 outdoor shower. The Spa Residence includes a mini-spa or second bedroom with king-size bed, a bathroom and 1 indoor shower
Banyan Hill Estate has 3 sleeping villas along the cliff with a veranda, own bathroom with a panorama bath tub, TV, CD /DVD player and mini-bar, open living area with additional small enclosed TV lounge, big terrace with a private pool, seating area and a fully equipped kitchen, a chef and dedicated butlers.

The Island’s own plantation and hydroponics farm guarantee fresh fruit and vegetables every day.
Fregate House – Offers a daily gourmet menu featuring the Chef’s selection of local products. Dining in Fregate House is available on the lower terrace and also in the restaurant, replete with evening sea breezes.
Plantation House Serves authentic Creole Style a la carte cuisine. This historical building evokes the memories of the early settlers and is a wonderful venue for open air dining. The Plantation House is closed seasonally due to bird nesting.
The Pirates Bar/Anse Bamboo Beach Bar offers light snacks and drinks at lunch and dinner
Apart from the regular restaurant on the island you can enjoy dinner on certain places on the island e.g. in the garden, at the beach, or just a picnic or having a wonderful experience dining in the top of a tree.
Wine Cellar– the resort’s wine selection competes with the most famous hotel and restaurants in the world, presenting a variety of wines from all around the globe, including important labels, varietals and vineyards. These wines are also offered for tastings, and the wine cellar also offers a dining facility for a group of up to 10 guests.
Specials
Boat Transfer Cancellation
In the event of rough seas conditions, a transfer by boat is not advisable and transfer by helicopter or Twin Otter will be arranged. The applicable for the new mode of transportation will apply. Additional charges are to be settled direcly with the hotel.
Boat Transfer Maximum Passengers
A maximum of 12 passengers per boat transfer is allowed. There is no luggage limitation. Please be advised that the boat only operates during the day.
Helicopter Maximum Passengers
A maximum of 4 passengers per helicopter transfer is allowed. Infants between the ages of 1-24 months may be seated on their parents lap. Children at and above the age of 2 are considered as full passenger and are required to occupy their own seats with adult supervision.
Helicopter Maximum Payload
The total maximum pay load capacity of 325kg per night, which includes all passengers and their luggage. One piece of luggage per passenger is permited as space is the limiting factor. Soft luggage is preferred. Note that 4 adults with big baggage need 2 helicopters or may use a plane alternatively.
